A & P Shipping Corporation was founded in 1972 to move automobiles and pets between Hawaii and the mainland. Shirley and Smith (Alex) Alexander started the company with a Volkswagen bus and a will to succeed. In 1980, A & P Shipping expanded into the household goods moving and storage business by leasing a small warehouse. From that modest beginning, A & P Shipping has grown into a transportation company which transports over 6 million pounds of household goods worldwide and over 300 automobiles to and from Hawaii, annually./
