Just prior to WW1, our company founder, J.S. Cameron (Great Grandfather of company president, Brian Bosson) operated South Knoxville Transfer located just south of downtown Knoxville, TN at the end of the present Henley Street bridge over the Tennessee River. Wagon and mule team provided power for whatever needed moving. Depending on the season, Camerons wagon was used "on demand" for hauling ice in the summer, coal in the winter, and furniture, grain and feed year round. He was a horseman and broke in wild horses shipped from the west for customers when his drayage business was slow and later invested in one of the first chain-drive trucks in the area. Cameron purchased a downtown storage warehouse business in 1924 and moved the company in 1928 one mile east near the "Park City" area of town and renamed the company Park City Storage & Transfer Co. In 1960 when nationwide interstate highway development was eminent, Camerons grandson Don Bosson, built a new facility and relocated the company to its present location on Chipman Street near I-40 at Cherry St. It was renamed American Holiday Van Lines. With the idea of making moving day a "holiday" the company adopted the slogan "Take A Holiday On Moving Day". Company President, Brian Bosson joined the company in 1978. Don Bosson Jr., serves as a financial consultant to the company.
